National Minority Organ Donor Awareness Week

August 1st – 7th in National Minority Organ Donor Awareness Week Our worship experience on Sunday, August 2nd provides an opportunity to thank God for the life chaning and life sustaining gifts of organ donations. Observed annually, National Minority Donor Awareness Week was created to increase awareness of the need for more organ, eye, and tissue donors, especially among minorities. Now in its 18th year, this special observance honors minorities who have been donors, and encourages others to register as donors and take better care of their health in order to reduce the number needing a transplant. ... Pin-A-Sister™ is a breast cancer awareness campaign to educate and engage women in taking control of their breast health that was launched in 2007 by Access Community Health Network. Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost is the Greek name for the Feast of Weeks, a prominent feast in the calendar of ancient Israel celebrating the giving of the Law on Sinai. In the Christian liturgical year, it became a feast commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ (120 in all), as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1–31.[1] For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described by some Christians today as the "Birthday of the Church".
