CCFY’s three-day Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Training Institute is designed to equip grassroots faith and neighborhood-based organizations to partner effectively with juvenile justice system agencies. Community participants will gain an understanding of how youth flow through the juvenile justice system from start to finish, and will learn best practices for alternative to incarceration program design, court reporting, and positive youth development. System Stakeholders have an incredible opportunity to connect with grassroots faith and neighborhood organizations that are already effectively engaging youth in the community – often times, the very same youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Through the ATI Training Institute, system and community stakeholders will:
(1) Identify underserved target population of youth who could benefit from additional community support;
(2) Find specific points of intervention where system-community partnerships can divert youth from deeper system involvement;
(3) Develop plans for effective collaborative interventions to keep youth safely at home in the community.
