United Methodist Men November, 2023
Our goal is to empower the ministry of Jesus Christ through men within the congregations of the United Methodist Church and beyond.
Accomplishments: The United Methodist Men of Maple Park UMC served Breakfast on Resurrection Sunday, April 9th. It was a wonderful time to fellowship together as a church family, followed by Sunday Rise Service and Regular Worship Service praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
During May, the UMM partnered with Higgins School. The Dean of Students, Darryl Meek, stated that his Male Mentoring program called “Man Up” needed our help. He mentors male students and was taking them to Fogo de Chao Restaurant on May 19th. The boys needed shirts and ties. The United Methodist Men came to their aide by purchasing dress shirts and ties for all of the boys. They looked like distinguished gentlemen.
It is our hope to continue our partnership with Higgins School.
One of our goals for 2024 is to do more outreach and to continue to be good stewards helping the needs of males in the Maple Park community and the surrounding areas.
Children / Youth Ministry Report November, 2023
“‘Look around you and see, for all your children will come back to you. As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘they will be like jewels or bridal ornaments for you to display.’” Isaiah 49:18 (NLT)
Purpose: Reaching out to young people to embrace their gifts and to walk with them in their process of becoming all they can be.
September 1, 2023, we started “Children’s Church” to give young people a chance to participate in Church life, develop their own faith and spirituality, and discover new friendships. The ages range from
4 to 17 years of age.
We were so excited to have our young people involved in church. On September 24, 2023, which was our 60th anniversary; the youth participated in the service. It was a joy to see them as liturgist and singing in the choir.
Our vision for the future is our desire to share God’s love by partnering with other churches and reaching outside of our walls together to reach the lost.
