Maple Park United Methodist Church in Chicago is a faith-based church whose mission is to serve, uplift, and reach everyone. Maple Park UMC’s mission is abbreviated S.U.R.E. We seek to serve the Maple Park community and its surrounding communities and beyond. In doing so, we have many ministries to accomplish our mission, including but not limited to, the following: Children and Youth Ministry, Higher Education Ministry, United Women in Faith whose mission is to help women, children, and youth, United Methodist Men whose mission is help with the needs of men, Grief Share Ministry, Evangelism, Community Garden, Sunday School Ministry, Girl Scouts, and Vacation Bible School.
Other programs that are in the church and utilize the church’s facilities are The Seeds Center of Maple Park. The Seeds Center of Maple Park is a nonprofit community development corporation that achieves its broad mission through specific programs. We strive to nurture the community of Maple Park through activities planned by our organizers. Currently, we are challenged with our Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry programs. The programs are housed in the lower level of Maple Park Church. We service all persons; however, those who have physical challenges or are senior citizens have limited access to our services due to the elevator being out of service. We support Maple Parks efforts to raise funds for repairs.
The Church’s elevator is currently in disrepair from utilizing it not only for the ministries of Maple Park United Methodist Church but also the other programs housed in the church. Not only are we repairing the elevator, but we will also install a door in the lower level of the church. This door will be used by members of our congregation who are older and can no longer take the steep stairs leading into the church building. In addition, the door will be used by The Seeds Center programs housed in the lower level of the church and for delivery from agencies making donations and distributions of food and other items to the church, and the community.
We are reaching out to our community and others to assist us in making certain that the ministries of the church and programs housed within the church can continue to help those in need. Anything that you contribute will be appreciated by Maple Park United Methodist Church and the communities that we serve.
God Bless You!
